Who is Pascale Naessens in the world of tableware?

Pascale Naessens is a Belgian cookbook author and ceramicist. Her interest in pottery began in Tunisia around twenty years ago, after meeting ceramicist Sabiha Ayari. Back in Belgium, she took courses in ceramics, glazing and firing. Her first potter’s wheel stood in her own kitchen.

She later showed her prototypes to Belgian design label Serax. That meeting led to Pure, launched in 2012, and later to more designs for the kitchen and table. The kitchen remains the starting point: these are pieces to fill, pass around and use often.

Verde Lanza began in Lanzarote, where Pascale Naessens regularly spends time. The island’s sun-worn green doors and shutters inspired the glaze. The shell-like relief grew from marks pressed into the clay while she was developing the prototypes.
