Fiskars Designer, Olavi Lindén, likes to turn things upside down.
"Innovation to me means recombining familiar things to create new solutions", states Olavi Lindén, the man behind many of Fiskars' most celebrated products, on his desire to turn things upside down. "History is full of excellent inventions that can be used again if you look at them from absurd angles, or simply produce them in a new lighter material."
"A great product is honest and simple," Lindén explains. "When people say to me : I could have thought of that myself, I consider the design to be successful." Pure design, exclusive materials and high attention to ergonomics are some of the cornerstones of his creations.
Throughout his thirty-year long career, Lindén has worked in the spirit of creating functional and safe products that truly benefits the consumer. "We can't just design beautiful things that people don't need, there has to be a demand for the product and the timing has to be right."
