Alex Gabriëls started her career as an art director in the advertising sector. For the past four years she has been working as a freelancer in order to be able to devote more time to her passion for ceramics. A passion that she has been pursuing for years, but which she has only been doing full time since 2020. "My mother passed on her love of tableware to me," she explains. "But I like to work with decorative ceramics such as lamps and vases, where the individual pieces have to be turned separately. The assembly of these pieces is always a magical moment. "Alex Gabriëls pays great attention to curves and proportions in his work. There may be a rough side, but the finish must be perfect so that the objects also express a decorative value. "My work is not meant to be stored in a cupboard, but to sit on top."
